Snuff Innovation |

In the early 1800’s, Dry snuff was becoming a major product and Weyman knew that using dry snuff in the fields would be next to impossible. Also, in the southern states, Dry snuff was being used as a type of “Dipping” snuff where the user would take a stick or a twig, chew the end a bit and dip the stick into the tube of Dry snuff. Then they would rub the snuff into the gums. Weyman thought that if the grind was not as fine, you could add a bit of liquid to the snuff and create a product one could use without the need of a stick. After a bit of experimentation, Weyman created a moist snuff he would call Copenhagen. |
